ABOUT SEEDIDAHO

SEEDIdaho has been operating within the Treasure Valley for over 9 years offering mechanical engineering, building commissioning and energy modeling services.  This office has worked with partner offices in Northern Nevada and California to execute contracts ranging from utility Demand Side Management (DSM) consulting and Zero Net Energy  studies to the design and engineering of cost effective energy efficient HVAC and Plumbing solutions.  Our proven commissioning and retro-commissioning service often uncovers issues the user may have never found, issues typically having an energy impact.  SEED has the experience and tools needed to correct these issues and to justify the investment in energy cost reduction.  With a broad portfolio of projects ranging from simple energy recovery systems to the design and commissioning of LEED certified buildings, SEEDIdaho and partner offices have the unique expertise and perspective to meet your project requirements regardless of the challenge.

ABOUT MICHAEL JONES

Having started his career testing energy efficiency and demand response technologies for the largest electric utility in the United States, Michael is passionate about energy.  To gain perspective outside of the utility and DSM platform, Michael joined SEEDTahoe in 2008 and was tasked with finalizing the energy modeling requirements, LEED consulting and assisting with the commissioning effort at UNR's Athletic Academic Center, a now LEED Silver certified building. After a handful of completed projects, Michael went to work for an energy services company based out of San Francisco, CA where he assisted on a unique USAID case study in the middle east, specifically in Jordan.  Having LEED based experience he helped the Lebanese developer pre-certify his building located in the Abdali Master development while evaluating the applicability of the USGBC's rating system in Jordan.

In 2011, Michael pursued partnership opportunities in an expansion of Northern Nevada operations to Idaho.  The business opportunity was coupled with the opportunity to join family in the State. Since the opening of SEEDIdaho in 2011, he has had the opportunity of working with forward thinking clients throughout Idaho, Oregon, Montana and California.

As a licensed Professional Engineer in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Washington and California, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Building Commissioning Professional (BCxP) and a legacy LEED AP he integrates his experience and perspective into all of his HVAC/Plumbing design, commissioning, and energy modeling projects.

Aside from running SEEDIdaho, Michael raises grass fed cattle and sheep in rural Idaho.

ABOUT RUSS PRATT

Russ started in the HVAC industry in 1983 as a mechanics helper in northern New England. Over the next 10 years he learned the finer details of HVAC installation, repair, and maintenance by working as a mechanic. After a handling a few too many cast iron boiler sections he decided it was time to go back to college and in the early ‘90’s he returned school to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering. Since graduating in 1996 he's been working and growing professionally from an EIT up to Senior Mechanical Engineer doing commercial, industrial, and institutional HVAC and plumbing engineering design.

He prides himself on being the one to go to when there’s something a little out of the ordinary. His philosophy is “I live for a challenge. I want a design problem that I can sink my teeth into. If you aren’t outside your comfort zone once in a while, then you aren’t growing professionally.”

He has been engineer of record on several LEED projects in Idaho, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. He is registered in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Montana, North Dakota, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, North Carolina, New Jersey, and New York.

He lives in Boise with his wife and two children. They all enjoy hiking, camping, cycling, hunting, and fishing. Basically, anything to get outdoors and enjoy nature.
